I like the part on finding landmarks — bones that are near the skin. It mainly focuses on anatomy drawing fundamentals, varying from the use of lines to anatomy in general.
People should keep in mind, however, while the lack of real-life reference in this book may make learning the fundamentals easier for beginners, the next stage of learning may require a book that shows what body parts look like in reality.
The book does have head drawing but the focus figkre on the form rather than the details of the features, although the examples do show the details. At least with Vilppu he breaks down gesture drawing a bit but even his explanation is inadequte.
It still covers enough for for anyone to draw a decent head. I’d give it six stars if I could. It gives artists like me who have difficult finding pr Michael Hampton’s book on figure drawing is a must read and an amazing reference book.

The most amazing approach to anatomy I’ve seen! Overall, it is a perfect book for beginners who are seeking to learn introductory anatomy. This site contains demonstrations and imagery from class lectures and my recently published book Figure Drawing: It looks better than most figure drawing books as far as I can tell but thats not saying much since most of them are abysmal, it seems that artists are dexign really poor at explaining their techniques.

Great reference to understand forms, skeleton and muscles in a simplified design and has great tips to improve life drawing, capturing the gesture of the figure. Not a chance to order this from desogn. There’s nothing on bones and you won’t learn how muscle works, but this isn’t an anatomy reference book.
